I love deadlines

I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

Newest rumors

It seems there will be even more fun with the ECTS. The newest rumors at the faculty go that there is a major problem with the classification system. The new grades A,B,C,D,E,F don’t respond to the normal distribution which is a necessary condition for getting the accreditation. The solution is still not decided but it seems we will get back to the old-fashioned system of 1,2,3,4 for a while. Good news for me. It looks better to get 3 than to get E. E looks already very loser-ish.

91 years since ...

(Pravda.ru) - Hundreds of thousands of Armenians on Monday streamed to a hilltop memorial in the capital, Yerevan, to mark the 91st anniversary of mass killings of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire.
Armenia accuses Turkey of the massacre of up to 1.5 million Armenians between 1915 and 1919, when Armenia was under the Ottoman Empire. Turkey rejects the claim and says Armenians were killed in civil unrest during the collapse of the empire.
"Today we are paying tribute to the victims of the genocide of Armenians," President Robert Kocharian said in an address to the nation. "The Ottoman Empire and its successor state bear full responsibly for this crime."
The killings began before April 24, but memorial services are held on this date because it is the anniversary of the day in 1915 when Turkish authorities executed a large group of Armenian intellectuals and political leaders, accusing them of helping the invading Russian army during World War I.
The former Soviet nation of Armenia has pushed for the United States and other nations to declare the killings a genocide. Many countries, including Russia and France, have officially recognized the event as genocide, along with some U.S. states, reports AP.

Inspired

The weekend was quite inspiring. I definitely have a lot of stuff what to think about. But first I need to pass another Economics test, so no thinking in my plan for today. Just studying.

What is love?

Can you be in love with someone to whom you never really talked to? When you don’t know anything about his private life? When you don’t know how he behaves with friends, his hobbies, his opinions about things that are important for you? When you don’t know if you have what to speak about when you stay alone for some time?

I am back

My weekend in brief (Stories coming later. Maybe):
Snow

Sheep

Snow and sheep

It is great to leave the city for several days!

Easter holiday!

Tomorrow morning right after my lesson I am leaving to Beskydy :))) I was warned that there is still snow there (I hope it's not true). Whatever, I will have better things to do than searching for an online computer so don't expect any posts till Tuesday :)
Nice Easter to everyone!

I got a tricky question today

My teacher asked me why I always sit at the same place (my favorite red sofas) near his office while studying. Well, what should I answer? For me it is completely natural to sit always at the same place, because I learn to ignore the distracting things quite fast.
The other similar places in the Paradise building are noisier and I don’t like sitting in the library for two reasons: 1. I already bought the books anyway. 2. It is like social event to go there. I always meet some friends.
And yeah, when speaking about the teachers at the 3rd floor...there is one more working in the same office. He always makes me smile. Not because he would be some extraordinary man, but because one of his shoes scroops. Yes, just one. It is so damn funny. On Monday evening, I was too tired to control myself and I just started to laugh at him, err, I mean laugh at his shoe (I never laugh at teachers!). And of course he noticed that. Oops, I hope that I will not meet him at some exam in near future. Or that he has a good sense of humor.

Oh, you think there is one more option! (Studying at home.) I thought about that as well. But what would I blog about then?

UPDATE: I forgot to mention why the 4th floor is not suitable as well. The vice-dean’s office is there. He is responsible for the student affairs and he is the guy with whom I solved my 4 or so situations when I was almost fired from school. Yes, I have the bachelor degree just because of his human approach to students. Now it always freaks me out when I see him. I don’t want to speak to him ever again. Makes sense, right?

Signature

I updated my auto-signature in the e-mail. As I consider snail mail address to be already out of date, I just put there position data. (Yes, I am still in Prague.) So you can see my house at Google Earth if you are interested :)
The signature looks like this now:

And now, if anyone googles me, he will find my blog. LOL, I wonder if this will ever happen. Maybe some secret admirer...
Oh ... can you imagine how dating will be easier when everyone will be googlable? I will like some guy, find out his name, google him, look at his blog or webpage or whatever and then I will be more clear if we might be compatible or not. It will be easier to approach him and impress him :) Well, I made myself googlable by this post. Now it is your turn, guys :)))

Down & up again

I almost cried twice today. Once from despair, once from laughter. I had an extremely sucky day. So, on the way home with Marťa we decided that we need to do the day worth living. We wanted to test one of the childish activities that we heard about. To blow a wrapper off a straw. We came to McD and ordered: “Cheeseburger and a straw, please.” The staff looked a bit puzzled, but who cares ;) Oh, I never thought that it could be so much fun. It really works! We created several disciplines – flying the wrapper as fast as possible, as far as possible and then we tried to shoot the target. The last part was not that successful. Marťa’s wrapper got lost and mine sticked on the wall, probably due to static electricity. It’s true - eating at McD improves your mood :)

Muzzy & Co.

Do you remember Muzzy? He likes eating clocks. And what about the royal family in Gondoland? All the complicated plot with princess Sylvia in love with Bob the gardener and Corvax being in love with her...

If you miss them, click here.
Marťa, you have to click on the boat then. You will love it.

I am a bad, bad girl

Yesterday was amazing, but I didn’t start with my homework. And I didn’t even buy the sunglasses. Unbelievable what all I am able to do just to avoid studying. You will see :)

Efficiency

So, we met together with Marťa at 11 to spend some quality time with our Economics books. We are sitting at the university, chatting and checking friends' blogs. Right now we have decided that we are hungry and we are leaving to the nearest shopping mall. On foot of course, we want to do something good for our health. And yeah, I also need to buy some sunglasses. Studying is still in the plan for today, probably in some nice café.

My naivety is astonishing

If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans. How could I ever think that I might go to Armenia or Bulgaria for a week in April? Well, theoretically ... maybe ...
Whatever, I already have another travel plans:
14.-17.4. - Beskydy – family visits
21.-23.4. - somewhere near Frýdštejn – selections to People in Need. Should be fun, should be interesting, should be tough.
On that account I can’t have a test in the official Friday lesson, but hopefully already on Wednesday (still being negotiated). But that is also the day of Global Village where I promised to represent my favourite countries. Will be fun. I will manage both activities with almost no effort. Ehm, I mean in the terms of time management, not that I think I will pass the test easily - taking books to Beskydy.
And yeah, when speaking about plans ... on 28.4. I will officially get my Bachelor diploma. After more than 4 months since I passed the last exam. Still not decided if I am going there or if I pick up the paper later. I expect the lesson to be more interesting than the graduation ceremony. So I‘ll probably let my mum decide – if she wants to see it or not :)
To make the plans complete – I have a funny feeling that deadlines for handing over some of the papers are in April but I am too afraid to check it. I also intentionally do not look into my diary to find out about the rest of the tests. I don’t want to know yet.

One of my eyes hurts. It feels similar as if you put the toothpaste into your eye. Have you ever tried it? I did and I didn't like it at all.

The last Iron Curtain

Armenia's deputy foreign minister on April 4 described the Turkish-Armenian border as the last vestige of the Iron Curtain that once divided Europe. To this day, the border remains firmly closed. Arman Kirokisyan was speaking at an international conference in Prague organized by the Czech parliament on the Armenian massacre of 1915-16. Ninety years after the killings and mass deportation of hundreds of thousands of Armenians from eastern Turkey by Ottoman troops, the Turkish government continues to deny a genocide ever happened. The issue threatens to become a major stumbling block on the path to Turkey's entry into the European Union.

As I have no major stress this week I started a short detox cure for myself. I do not smoke, I do some sports and I significantly diminished the daily dose of caffeine. Well, actually I had no coffee today but now I feel reeeeeally sleeeeepy.

Hluboká nad Vltavou

This wonderful place was in news quite often last week (before the floods came). Hluboká is the first place in the Czech Republic, where the avian flu appeared. Well, bad publicity is still a publicity :) These pictures were taken when I was going to the "business trip" on November.

Unimaginable

I didn’t even believe that this would ever come. April is here. No more work. I am a full time student and solely student again. Somehow I still cannot realize what it means. I have just one lesson on Thursday and another one on Friday (except the other normally busy days). So much free time! I can’t imagine!
