What a day :)

Last night was even better than expected. Not only I got to the club for free (it is good to know people in showbusiness) and met my girls again but Rosťa came as well. We haven't seen each other for 17 months so I just had to hug him (and you know how I usually feel about hugging). Heh, good that his new boyfriend was not around ;) I am still excited about the moment. And the best part was when Rosťa suggested to do a small reunion with the complete original gang. I wouldn't offer that myself as Rosťa was the one who left us first. Apparently all quarrels are forgoten. Oh yeah, there are often some quarrels in a gang of seven girls and a gay guy :) Plus we all needed a break from all that heavy drinking.
Another wonderful news came today at work when I got my first task for Relief and Development Department. Nothing big but finally things are changing and I'm moving towards the work I actually want to do. In the coming days I'll be working on recovery of Iraq.

The last post was just a temporary weakness in the long-term struggle. Nothing distracts you better from your sorrow than 200 invoices to process :)
Plan for tonight: Return of the long-lost sister. My girls, Solník is 100% coming tonight! Can't wait to see you again.

Guess whose name-day it is today

Days like this make me wonder what are the personal values good for. Especially when they make you feel lonely and unhappy.
I miss seeing him, I miss talking to him, I miss being with him. Well, I could call him but what would it help? If we accidentally meet, I will probably run away again. That all simply hurts too much. There is no happy ending solution in this case. Let's just continue playing this game as we do. I wish I could forget, but it was too nice to be forgotten. Precious memories that are destroying me but I don't want to lose them anyway.
I know I am weak when I can't cope with such a banality compared to the problems of others. But yes, it is me. I want something I will never have.

I saw this and my jaw dropped

From Wikipedia:
A music video for "The Saints Are Coming," directed by Chris Milk, was released on video site YouTube on October 27,2006. The music video shows the two bands playing at the Abbey Road Studio and at the Louisiana Superdome (though the footage from the live performance at the Superdome has been overdubbed with the studio version of the song), intermixed with news footage of the displacement of residents after Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. The second half of the video shows an alternative history in which George W. Bush redeployed troops and vehicles from Iraq to New Orleans to help victims of the hurricane, with the military personnel fulfilling the titular role of the saints. In the words of the director, this was done to "make a commentary on the Katrina disaster ... from the standpoint of how things can and should be done in the future." The video ends with military support vehicles fading out as the camera pans to a sign that reads 'Not as seen on TV', alluding to the criticized response to Katrina while also parodying media deception on rescue coverage.

Heh

So I had to reinstall again. First I hoped there would be some easier solution but after talking to info line, customer service and technical support I figured out that this would be the easiest solution. Well, why not. All my files (ehm, almost all of them) are still copied to my brother's comp. It is just my fault that I recalled after formatting C that my brother's comp is in service now with a broken hard disc :) He should get it back on Friday (earliest). So yes, I'm without any of my files now. Heh, I didn't laugh so much for a very long time. Because this is one of those situations where there is nothing else to do but laugh :)

Relaxing

Being sick without feeling sick. Perfect situation. It generates a lot of free time. Honestly I was looking forward to this vaccination for more than a week. Holiday was needed and now it is highly appreciated :)

I had a good laugh this morning

when I got the e-mail informing me that the Global Interns eXPerience survey is launched and I am invited to fill it in. Oh yes, this is a survey that I'm definitely going to answer because I have a lot to say :)
(evil laugh)

On Friday, the revolutionary day I finally lost patience with my super-slow laptop and reinstalled. Everything is new, smarter, better ... and I don't know how to use it :) I click on places where some feature used to be and guess what - it's not there anymore. I'm having a lot of fun now but I'm not particularly productive.
I also cleaned up my files (including some MSN conversations) and found out one crucial thing: next time my intuition tries to tell me something, I'm gonna listen to it, because my intuition is right.
(It is right, it is right, it is right.)

I feel like a big girl now

It seems I have a topic for my diploma thesis and also a professor to supervize. It is
- unbelievable (that it finally happened)
- exciting (the end is near - kind of)
- scary (because I have to write 60-80 pages about something I have no clue about)

And the topic is ... tadááááá ... Fundraising. Now I only need final confirmation from the finance manager of PIN and then I can start reading literature (which doesn't exist). The agreement is that I will start actually writing something in February.

Some things don't change

I found some old pictures a couple of days ago. I was astonished how easy it is to recognize me - look for the one that doesn't look like a good girl :)

According to the research of public opinion held in September, 29% of Czechs trust the church as an institution. 50% don't trust and the rest don't know/don't care. For comparison the results of other institutions are following: 61% trust the army, 47% police, 33% labour unions. From all the institutions tracked in the research, church is the least trustworthy for Czechs :) LOL, even the labour unions are more popular here.
Well, what more to say? It is hard to trust an institution that is associated with manipulation, persecution and corruption since at least 14th century in this country. This is a cultural thing ;)

Warm

Now I'm glad that I didn't have my laptop repaired. Who cares that the broken fan is a little bit noisy? The main thing is that this toy radiates enough heat to keep me warm. I love my laptop these days. I think I will give him a name, take him to my bed in the evenings and hug him all night long.
